The Story of Overcometh
Overcometh. Well, the name says it all. It’s an album about rising above life’s struggles, darkness, and internal battles we all face. The final track, The Damned, captures that feeling of life beating you down, of thinking the universe is against you, and believing you’re cursed…only to realize, in the end, that you are not The Damned. Sometimes hope seems like it shows up too late. And sometimes you have to create that hope within you.
The title track, Overcometh, is pure melodic heavy metal with a darker, emotional twist of relentlessly overcoming the past. Higher Purpose follows that same spirit, but from a different angle. It’s about pushing toward a higher version of yourself, even when you feel like everything in life has tried to hold you back. It’s that Stallone “Rocky” energy. Life knocks you down, but you keep moving forward anyway.
Your Hand I Still Hold is about the strong connection between my wife and me. In the song, one of us passes to the next realm only to rediscover ourselves, together again, in a new journey. Songs like Into Twilight and Jai Yen Yen ใจเย็นๆ explore the deeper and sometimes darker corners of your mind, and the choice to rise above them instead of becoming your own worst enemy.
Believe is the anthem of the album. It’s a reminder of how underrated believing in yourself is. Your story is full of empty pages for you to fill throughout your journey of meaning and purpose.
Also, part of the story is two instrumental tracks: The Healing II is the sequel to The Healing from my very first album (Apocalyptic Dreams, released almost exactly ten years earlier). Manufactured Chaos is a release of thrash metal, hinting at a rebellion against a world that attempts to control us.
At its core, Overcometh is melodic heavy metal with a purpose. It’s aggressive when it needs to be, emotional when the story calls for it, dark in the right moments, and ultimately uplifting. My hope is that these songs encourage and inspire you to overcome anything life throws at you…including the battles in the darker corners of your own mind.
